Most chains will need to migrate their signature scheme when quantum computers arrive. Soqucoin was built with NIST FIPS 204 (ML-DSA-44) from day one. No migration, no emergency fork, no exposed keys. That architectural decision is the thesis.

§ 01 — The thesis

The cryptographic foundation of every major blockchain (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana) is ECDSA or Ed25519. Both are broken by Shor's algorithm on a sufficiently large quantum computer. The industry consensus is to migrate when the threat materializes, but migration means coordinating billions of dollars in key material, wallet software, and exchange infrastructure under pressure.

Soqucoin takes the opposite position: build the post-quantum signature into the genesis block, so there is nothing to migrate. Every address, every transaction, every UTXO is quantum-safe from the start. The protocol uses ML-DSA-44 (NIST FIPS 204, formerly Dilithium), the same standard the U.S. federal government mandates for post-quantum digital signatures.

The mining layer is deliberately conventional. It runs Scrypt proof-of-work, the same algorithm as Litecoin and Dogecoin, so SOQ can merge-mine with the existing LTC/DOGE hashrate at zero additional cost. The innovation is in the transaction layer, not the mining algorithm.

Honest framing: Halborn’s assessment reviewed 16,000+ lines of post-quantum code (the Dilithium integration, the PAT batch-verification primitive, wallet cryptography, and AuxPoW merge-mining) and even surfaced a heap-overflow in the upstream NIST PQC reference implementation. All 30 findings were remediated, and the team gated mainnet launch on the assessment (read the Halborn case study). Stagenet is the current operational network, not yet production-grade for high-value custody.

SOQ uses a fixed-issuance emission schedule with a perpetual tail — the same proven approach used by Ethereum, Polkadot, Solana, and Monero. Predictable, decreasing inflation secures the network long-term without a hard cap. There is no pre-mine and no team allocation; all SOQ is distributed through proof-of-work mining.
